Antique Restoration

Reclaiming treasures of the past.

New Life to the Damage & Neglected.

There is a rare beauty in furniture that comes to us from the past, in the style of a bygone era. Antiques have an allure you can’t get from new furniture. They’ve lived across generations, passed down in families, and seem to have their own story.

Often furniture built long ago was constructed with greater attention to detail, and with materials chosen for their quality. True craftsmanship. Antiques of this caliber deserve care, to survive into the future.

Sadly, the age that makes antiques special is often reflected in a depleted condition – neglect, misuse, damage, moving, storing, dust, and animals – they’ve all left their mark.

Fortunately, we are experts at antique furniture restoration, refinishing, and repair. Whether a valued family heirloom, a sentimental piece, or a newly acquired treasure, we can restore the beauty of your antiques, giving them a 2nd Time Around.

The Restoration Process

1. Assessment & Quote

Give us a call or send us an email – we can discuss your project and expectations. Images and clear descriptions are helpful. We’ll provide a quote for the project cost.

2. Pick-Up or Drop-Off

We’ll arrange a time to pick-up your furniture, or you can drop it off at our shop. Depending on distance and drive time we may charge an additional fee for transport.

3. Strip the Old

Wood begins to turn dark, dull and lifeless when it ages. Depending on the piece, we’ll use chemical strippers, belt, or hand sanders to remove the old varnish.

4. Sanding Smooth

Using medium to fine-grit sand paper, we’ll sand with the grain until the furniture surface is perfectly smooth – ready for the surface to be varnished and restored.

5. Stain and Seal

We’ll apply several coats of high-quality oil stain, lightly sanding in-between, in accordance with the wood type and the desired look and color. We finish with protective layers of polyurethane sealant.

6. Delivery or Pick-Up

Depending on the size of the job or our workload, projects may take anywhere from 1 to 12 weeks. After we’re finished we’ll arrange a time for delivery or pickup. We accept cash or check for payment.
